Die lange Latex-Pause hat mich blind gemacht. Fehler hatte nichts mit der Kodierung zu tun, ich hatte versehentlich in einen citekey einen \index{} gesetzt... Danke für alle Tipps!

OK, dann werde ich den Heuhaufen mal komplett durchkämmen. Schon mal besten Dank für die Ratschläge!
Die Zeile 1970 der bcf hilft mir nicht, vielleicht aber euch, sie sieht so aus:
<bcf:section number="0">

Im Anchluss folgen 149 Zeilen mit dieser Struktur:
<bcf:citekey order="1">Veremundus1898</bcf:citekey>
<bcf:citekey order="2">Becker1981Hertling</bcf:citekey>

Nun, schau was in Zeile 1970 der fritz.bcf steht. Oder halbiere dein Dokument bis du rausgefunden hast, was den Fehler produziert.

Du musst jeden einzelnen Beitrag durchgehen. Am besten mit der Halbierungssuche in einem Testdokument.

Du hast es, ich ehrlich gesagt noch nicht ;). Wie gehe ich jetzt am besten vor?

Und wahrscheinlich die wichtigen Teile weggelassen ... Schau nach ob da irgendwo "WARN" steht.

Nein, das Literaturverzeichnis umfasst rund 600 Titel. Ich habe, um die gepostete blg zu erstellen, nur einen kleinen Teil der Arbeit gesetzt.

Hast du wirklich nur sieben Zitate in deiner Arbeit? Dann solltest es dir ja ein Leichtes sein ein vollständiges Beispiel zu zeigen und nicht nur "vermutlich relevante Teile".
